Li-Cycle recovers usable battery-grade materials
from shredded Li-ion batteries
Great interview of Li-Cycle’s Co-Founder, President and CEO, Ajay Kochhar in Charged. It covers lot of ground re-Li-ion battery recycling challenges: awareness, logistics, scalability, shredding (safety, automation), chemical treatment (variability of cathode/anode material mix) as well as regulation (or the lack of).
Definitely worth a read at a time when the battery recycling need to get ready to transform from a niche/low-volume business to a high-volume business (>2030).
